J2, J1 & OJ = Ages 14-19

Skiers ages 14-19, (Junior classes J2, J1 & OJ) - High School - receive coaching in advanced ski techniques and technical racing strategies.  The program provides opportunities for both recreational skiers, who may want to ski with the team only  1 day a week, and for those competative skiers wanting to compete at a regional & national level, and may train up to 5-6 days a week and be preapring for racing.

The program will simultaneously address the coaching needs of the potentially serious nordic racers involved in competition and race preparations, along with those of the intermediate and novice level skiers, or those skiers desiring to use sking for winter conditioning without serious race competition.

The program provide a balance focusing on individual interests.  The junior coaching staff is committed to assisting all levels of skiers achieve greater enjoyment out of their nordic skiing experience.  The ultimate goal of the coaching staff is to ensure each athlete is looking forward to continuing their skiing career and is a good ambassador for nordic skiing.

The Junior program is a performance based program and will not focus on race results.  Through education and the application of sound training methodologies, skiers in the Junior program will become self-sufficient in their technical and physical coaching needs.  Skiers will be trained on specific skills and taught how to apply these skills throughout their development.

When properly trained, junior skiers will be technically proficient in skating and classic techniques, ski maintenance and waxing, equipment selection, sound physiologic training programs, proper nutrition, injury prevention and mental training.
